Dr. Margaret Hale
Executive Associate Director
Texas AgriLife Extension Service
Dr. Margaret Hale currently serves as Executive Associate Director of Texas AgriLife Extension Service (formally Texas Cooperative Extension), a state agency of The Texas A&M University System. She received her bachelor of science degree in home economics in 1971 from Tarleton State University. Dr. Hale completed her graduate education at Texas A&M University where she earned her master’s and doctorate degrees in education.
A 36 - year veteran of Extension, Dr. Hale has worked in several positions. She began her Extension career in January 1972 as an Expanded Nutrition agent - Youth in McLennan County. She then served as county Extension agent in Falls and Limestone Counties until 1990. From 1990 until 1995, she served as district Extension director - Family and Consumer Sciences in Central District 8. She then transferred to College Station where she became Assistant Director for Family and Consumer Sciences and held that position until 1998 when she assumed the responsibility of her current job as Executive Associate Director.
Dr. Hale currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Journal of Extension, member of The Association of Southern Region Extension Directors, Administrative Advisor-Southern Region Extension Program Leaders - Family and Consumer Sciences and member of the Tarleton State University College of Agriculture and Human Sciences Development Council.
Dr. Hale has received many awards and recognitions such as the Tarleton State University Distinguished Alumni Award, the National Association of Extension Home Economists Mary Nell Greenwood Doctoral Fellowship, Epsilon Sigma Phi Distinguished Service Award, State Award of Visionary Leadership and the Texas Cooperative Extension Superior Service Award. She is a graduate of the Governors Executive Development Program.
