Overview

This 2-hour course is designed for Child Care Health Consultants (CCHCs) to gain knowledge of child maltreatment, including how to recognize common indicators of child maltreatment, the role of early childhood professionals in reporting, and strategies for prevention.

THIS COURSE IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO PARTICIPANTS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE IN-PERSON PORTION OF THE CHILD CARE HEALTH CONSULTANT TRAINING PROGRAM. Recent studies indicate that over 900,000 children are victims of child maltreatment on an annual basis in the U. S. Younger children, according to the data, tend to have the highest rate of victimization. Due to the seriousness of the problem, all adults have a responsibility to get involved in preventing child maltreatment. This 2-hour course is designed to help Child Care Health Consultants (CCHCs) learn more about the topic of child maltreatment, including how to recognize common indicators of the four types of child maltreatment, the role of child care providers in reporting child maltreatment, and the role that CCHCs can play in preventing and responding to child maltreatment.
