Course Information
Being an early childhood advocate extends beyond the classroom and includes collaborating with colleagues to work to create positive improvements in our field. Advocacy in the early childhood field is how we make substantial changes in regulations that support funding, research, improve systems, and further the development of our field to make a lifelong impact on children and families.
After completing this 2-hour course, the learner will be able to describe what being an advocate entails, explain how why advocacy is important, and identify various advocacy organizations.
After completing this training, participants should be able to:
- Define advocacy and what it means in the work of early childhood education professionals;
- Describe the ways one can become an effective advocate for children and families; and
- Identify organizations that promote early childhood advocacy.
The development of this online course was 100% funded by federal Child Care and Development Funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, as part of an $8,000,000 grant from the Texas Workforce Commission.
