Overview

Do you want to continue your professional career in wastewater management? This online series was developed to address challenges facing the onsite wastewater industry in Texas.

Course Information

This amazing bundle gives you the knowledge to enhance your career while earning CEUs approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for OSSF license holders. After completing this bundle, you will gain improved understanding of the non-residential OSSFs, typically used for serving commercial facilities such as restaurants, office buildings, schools, and RV parks. Wastewater generated at such facilities is significantly different than the wastewater generated at homes in terms of the organic loading and hydraulic flow patterns.

This course is developed to address one of the challenges facing the onsite wastewater industry in Texas: wastewater treatment systems that are being organically and/or hydraulically overloaded. The entire 16-hour course series is divided into four modules, each module covering unique topics. Upon completion of all four modules, you will be able to better understand the complexity of designing and operating a high-strength onsite wastewater treatment system

Who is this for?

  • Professional License Holders (Professionals)

What will you learn?

  • Understand how to evaluate waste sources using checklists for residential and commercial systems
  • Gain confidence in system monitoring, sampling, and sample analysis
  • Learn about the use of a microscope and how to conduct a microscopic evaluation of an aerobic treatment system
  • Better understanding of how to evaluate and manage a malfunctioning commercial system
  • Get to know about a few real-world examples of commercial systems

This bundle is a four-part series consisting of:

Module 1: Introduction to Decentralize High-Strength Wastewater Systems

This online course gives you the knowledge to enhance your career while earning CEUs through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. After completing this course, you will be able to define high-strength wastewater and its impact on system design and operation, identify hydraulic and organic characteristics from a variety of wastewater sources, recognize the importance of organic and hydraulic loading in designing a high-strength wastewater system, and more.

Module 2: Hydraulic Loading and Time Dosing

This online course gives you the knowledge to enhance your career while earning CEUs through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. After completing this course, you will be able to better understand hydraulic loading and the difference between average and peak flow, estimate flow based on the type of facility and from current regulations, calculate actual flows using different methods and calculations, understand the importance, benefits, and need for flow equalization, and more.

Module 3: Organic Loading and Treatment Train

This online course gives you the knowledge to enhance your career while earning CEUs through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. After completing this course, you will be able to better understand organic loading and its importance in designing commercial systems, get familiar with organic loading calculations and conversion factors, understand the treatment train concept and various components of typical treatment trains, refer to current regulations related to design requirements for high-strength systems, and more.

Module 4: Troubleshooting and Microscopic Evaluation

This online course gives you the knowledge to enhance your career while earning CEUs through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. After completing this course, you will be able to understand how to evaluate waste sources using checklists for residential and commercial systems, gain confidence in system monitoring, sampling, and sample analysis, learn about the use of a microscope and how to conduct a microscopic evaluation of an aerobic treatment system, better understanding on how to evaluate and manage a malfunctioning commercial system, and more.
