Overview

Maintaining the health of young children - and setting them up with lifelong healthy habits - are critical elements of a quality early childhood program. This one-hour course reviews some of the key practices early childhood educators can use to promote breastfeeding and healthy feeding habits in infants. It is aligned with the guidelines of the Texas Healthy Building Blocks recognition program.

Course Information

Maintaining the health of young children - and setting them up with lifelong healthy habits - are critical elements of a quality early childhood program. This one-hour course reviews some of the key practices early childhood educators can use to promote breastfeeding and healthy feeding habits in infants. The course describes the components of creating a breastfeeding-friendly environment, explains how to use responsive infant feeding techniques, and teaches how to design effective policies and educational opportunities around breastfeeding and infant feeding. It is aligned with the guidelines of the Texas Healthy Building Blocks recognition program. This course was developed with support from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
