Overview

This course is designed for 6th-12th grade students and provides information about basic nutrition, MyPlate, making healthy food choices, food safety, basic culinary skills, and the importance of physical activity.

Course Information Healthy Teens, Healthy Future is a 6-lesson series, with each lasting about 30 minutes. Students will learn about basic nutrition, MyPlate, making healthy food choices, food safety, basic culinary skills, and the importance of physical activity. Each session will include a short, interactive lesson and a recorded recipe demonstration that can be re-created at home. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:Identify healthy eating patterns through MyPlateReview basic cooking skillsRead the nutrition facts labelMeasure appropriate portion sizesDefine common cooking termsExplain the importance of physical activityPractice food safety principlesAt the completion of the program, each student will receive a certificate of completion.
