Overview

Prescribed burning is a cost-effective tool for managing and restoring ranges and forests. Unfortunately, the liability and risks associated with the practice keep prescribed burning from being used extensively. This publication explains levels of liability and statute reforms that have made prescribed fire a more viable practice. Information on prescribed burn associations and the Coalition of Prescribed Fire Councils is also included. (4 pages)
