Course Information
This online course focuses on the laws, regulations, and procedures related to health and safety as these are key components of high quality care.
Providers should be able to articulate an understanding of laws, regulations, and procedures regarding health and safety practices, recognize symptoms of common childhood diseases and understand how to implement procedures to prevent them.
The monitoring of materials and equipment, understanding active supervision, and the proper storing of chemicals, medications, and hazardous materials are essential components of a safe and hygienic environment.
Finally, understanding the nutritional needs of children, prevention of choking and allergies, modeling of self-help skills during mealtime, and maintaining a sanitary eating environment are discussed.
Funding for this 4-hour pre-service training course was provided by the Workforce Solutions as part of their Early Care and Education Quality Improvement initiative.
