Course Information
Math is FUN! It is one of the few times you can see the wheels turning as children engage in the exploration of number and number operations, geometry and spatial sense, classification, and pattern skills! Learning happens right before your eyes!
After completing this 4-hour course, the learner will be able to describe how mathematics supports development in the area of cognition, and define and give activity examples for the categories of mathematics.
After completing this training, participants should be able to:
- Explain how to create a high-quality learning environment to support children's cognitive development;
- Describe how mathematics supports development in cognition;
- Define and give activity examples for the categories of mathematics to be taught as per the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines; and
- Describe how children's literature can be integrated with mathematics in a preschool classroom.
The development of this online course was 100% funded by federal Child Care and Development Funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, as part of an $8,000,000 grant from the Texas Workforce Commission.
