Overview

The purpose of this course is to explore what it takes to build partnerships with parents of very young children, including families of children with special needs. Participants will learn about common challenges, effective communication strategies, and ways to gain support from parents of children without disabilities.

Building partnerships with parents takes hard work and has many rewards.

The purpose of this 2-hour online course is to explore what it takes to build partnerships with families of very young children with and without special needs.

During the course, participants will learn about:

  • Common concerns of families who have children with disabilities;
  • Strategies for communicating effectively with families;
  • Steps to maintain confidentiality of information concerning children and families;
  • Techniques for involving families in the early childhood program; and
  • Ideas for gaining support from families with children who do not have disabilities.
