Course Information

Any plant growing in the wrong place can be a weed. Crepe myrtles growing on a putting green would certainly be weeds. Likewise, bermudagrass growing in most flower beds would also be considered a weed. Weed-infested landscapes are not aesthetically pleasing and can even decrease property values.

Other ways that weeds injure plants or affect land use include:

  • Reduce turf/ornamental quality and vigor
  • Increase labor and equipment cost - increase wear and tear
  • Invite insect and disease pests or hosts
  • Can be poisonous or irritating to animals or people

This online course will teach you the basics of identifying and controlling weeds, as well as cultural practices, equipment, and application and reading labels correctly.

This 8-hour course is designed to satisfy the SPCS Apprentice Training Requirements as specified in Rule 7.132 (i) (2) '8 hours of classroom training in each category in which the Apprentice is to provide pest control services.' This $150 course includes the required category training manual (AES-5066), and online instruction. The manual will be mailed separately.
