The Fall Pest Management Seminar offers one of the most cost-effective options for professional continuing education units, or CEUs, in the region, organizers said.
“Early registration is $70, and that includes lunch,” said Dr. Mike Merchant, urban entomologist. The course, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 2, is for commercial and non-commercial pest control applicators with turf- and ornamental-oriented licenses, he said. Continuing education credit will count for both structural and agricultural license holders. This year’s meeting will be at the Richardson Civic Center, 411 West Arapaho Road, Richardson.
Event topics and speakers will be:
- Review of the Latest Ag and Structural Pesticide Laws and Regulations, Allison Cuellar, compliance specialist, Texas Department of Agriculture.
- Rodent Management, Janet Hurley, AgriLife Extension school integrated pest management specialist.
- Update on Common Turfgrass Pests, Gary Brooks, Bayer Crop Sciences.
- Best Management Practices for Weeds, Raymond Miller, entomologist, Dow Agrosciences, Raleigh, North Carolina.
- Designing IPM Programs to Better Protect Honeybees and Other Pollinators, Dr. Frank Wong, plant pathologist, Bayer Crop Sciences, Alexandria, Virginia.
