The 2019 Ranch Horse Program, to be held Aug. 4 in College Station in conjunction with the Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course, will cover a range of topics for successful equine management.
The program will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Thomas G. Hildebrand Equine Complex, 3240 F&B Road. The cost is $50 at the door or free for Beef Cattle Short Course registrants. Lunch is included.
Participants will gain insight into equine nutrition, management and routine health maintenance, plus spend the afternoon at the complex arena with professional horseman Jeff Williams of Post.
Morning presentations begin at 8:30 a.m. and include:
- Ranch horse nutrition, Dr. Matt McMillan, Hi-Pro Feeds.
- Veterinary emergencies, Dr. Wesley Bissett, Texas A&M Veterinary Emergency Team director, College Station.
- History of the 6666 horses, Dr. Glenn Blodgett, resident veterinarian and manager of the 6666 Ranch horse division.
- Ranch horse dental care, Dr. Cleet Griffin, Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine clinical associate professor, College Station.
