Aggieturf.tamu.edu has been designed to provide information on Texas turfgrasses and the role they play in the lives of millions of Texans. As part of the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences at Texas A&M University, the site delivers information regarding Texas turfgrasses, selection and management considerations, as well as, pest control (weeds, insects, & diseases).
Turf grasses’ vital role in the Texas green industry includes:
- 1.6 million acres of lawns and landscapes
- $9.3 billion and 111,000 jobs in the green industry
- $6.2 billion and 80,000 jobs in golf
- $263 million and 2,100 jobs in turfgrass production
