    Join us for a free Homeownership Workshop in collaboration with USDA Rural Development, where industry experts will guide you through the entire homebuying process. You’ll also gain practical tips on preparing for homeownership and choosing the right team to confidently get you to the closing table.  Workshop will be June 25 from 10-2 at the Waller County Community Center.

    We invite Waller County area farmers, landowners, and individuals involved in the production of rice, cotton, and grain to join us for a free breakfast to kick off the 2026 harvest season! Updates from industry and specialists followed by optional post breakfast crop tour of Pederson Rice Farm.

  • This free program, supported by Waller County Farm Bureau, will take place on July 11 from 8:30-12:00 at Brookwood Horticulture in Brookshire. Homeowners and gardeners will get a chance to see new plants being evaluated for Texas Gulf Coast region along with hearing from industry experts. Topics will include establishing ornamentals, plant breeders update, and flowering plants for 4 seasons. Registration is required.

  • Dates and topics for 2026 Quarterly Beef and Forage Dinner: Jan. 28 Preparing Forages for the Growing Season, April 29 Summer Plant ID and IPM, July 22 External Cattle Parasites, and Oct. 28 Winter Feeding Strategies. The location will be the extension office. Dinner will be served at 6 and program will be from 6:00-7:30. Call the extension office to register.

  • Tractor applying pesticide to crops in a field

    This training is designed for Private Pesticide applicators in Texas that want to obtain a Pesticide license. Training only, testing will not be offered during this training. Training is required for all private applicators prior to taking the private applicator exam by the Texas Department of Agriculture and administrated by Metro Institute. Testing procedures will be explained during the training.

    The next training will occur on July 22 at the Waller Extension Office. Training will start at 8:30 and will finish around noon. Registration information will be available in July.
