Course Information

This online course gives you the knowledge to enhance your career while earning CEUs through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. After completing this course, you will have a strong knowledge of Organic Loading and Treatment Trains.

This course series is developed to address one of the challenges facing the onsite wastewater industry in Texas: wastewater treatment systems that are being organically and/or hydraulically overloaded. The entire 16-hour course series is divided into four modules, each module covering unique topics. Upon completion of all four modules, you will be able to better understand the complexity of designing and operating a high-strength onsite wastewater treatment system.

Lesson 1: Two Qs in Wastewater Management

Discover waste streams' two design values: quantity - hydraulic loading or flow volume and quality - organic loading or waste load.

Lesson 2: Mass Loading and Organic Loading Calculations

Learn why every system has a hydraulic and organic loading limit and how to calculate organic loading for a high-strength project.

Lessons 3 and 4: Order and Operation of a Treatment Train and Components of Common Treatment Trains

Research claims from a manufacturer on treatment technology and research treatment capabilities on treatment components. Understand the importance of operation, maintenance, and monitoring on a system. Review system plans and regulations.

Lesson 5: Sizing of Aeration Systems for High-Strength Wastewater Calculations

Review of TCEQ Regulations OSSF rules 285 and Wastewater rules 217 and a design review example.
