Every year, some 100,000 volunteers team up with AgriLife Extension educators to do the hard work and the “heart work” of educating youth and adults throughout this great state. You too can join AgriLife Extension’s volunteer force and put your knowledge and skills to work.

Master Volunteer Programs

Master Volunteers are local people with an interest in a particular subject. AgriLife Extension provides training that increases their knowledge and skill in that area allowing them to facilitate educational programming in their communities.

Master Volunteers may teach youth or adults, train other volunteers, work on projects like community gardens — there are endless possibilities. To find out which Master Volunteer programs are available in your community, contact your county AgriLife Extension office.

4-H and Youth Development Volunteers and Mentors

Volunteers are essential to the successful implementation of the 4-H program. Volunteers can serve in a variety of roles including club manager, project leader, activity leader, event judge, event chaperone, committee member, and mentor. Working directly with youth, 4-H volunteers help youth set goals and reach achievements through various project experiences.

Texas Extension Education Association, Inc. serves as a cooperative and coordinating organization for the statewide activities of members of county clubs. TEEA provides education, leadership development, and community service opportunities that are focused on improving the quality of life for the family and community.

Leadership Advisory Boards and Program Area Committees

AgriLife Extension relies on volunteers across the state to help improve our programs and program areas. Volunteers can serve on Leadership Advisory Boards (LAB) to help develop and implement a long-term vision for each County Extension Program, or participate in Program Area Committees to help respond rapidly to critical needs and issues relevant to local needs.
