The Sabine County Extension Office, located at 255 Mann Street in Hemphill, Texas, is part of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, which provides research-based education and community programs across all 254 counties in Texas. Led by County Extension Agent Chanelle Svehla, the office serves as a vital resource for local residents in agriculture and youth development. Through its Agriculture and Natural Resources programs, the office assists producers with topics such as forage and livestock management, soil testing, pest control, and fruit and nut production.

The 4-H and Youth Development program engages local youth in hands-on learning experiences that build leadership, responsibility, and life skills through activities like livestock projects, cooking workshops, and community service. In addition to educational workshops, farm visits, and newsletters, the Sabine County Extension Office coordinates community initiatives such as the weekly farmers market and collaborative programs with local schools and organizations.

As part of AgriLife Extension’s District 5 (East Texas), the office connects university research with practical, real-world applications, helping to strengthen the local economy, support youth, and enhance quality of life throughout Sabine County.
