This course provides producers with details on various grass species that are adapted to Texas and can be utilized as forage (pasture, hay, baleage or silage).

Course Information

Learn about the types of forages and grasses that are best adapted to your ecoregion of Texas. Whether you are interested in maximizing your grazing potential, increasing hay production, or just learning how to grow thicker grass, this one-hour presentation can help you select the right forage option for your management goals.

This course will discuss the main grass species adapted for use as grazeable forages or hay crops in the south. From bermudagrass to ryegrass, you will learn about more than 30 different grass species.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Select the appropriate forage option for your climate, soil quality, and management goals
