Course Information
The information in this course is designed for pest management professionals who encounter flea and tick problems around homes, schools and parks. During this course, you will be presented with different scenarios that you will try to solve as a pest management professional.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe the life cycle of cat and dog fleas
- Distinguish common dog or cat flea from other fleas
- Identify areas where fleas are likely to live indoors and outdoors
- Recognize signs of a tapeworm infestation from household pets
- Identify common species of ticks and the diseases they're capable of transmitting
- Explain the prevalence and symptoms of tick-borne diseases
- Prevent tick attachment and safely remove ticks if found
- Practice appropriate flea and tick control measures, including selecting proper treatment chemicals
Certification Requirements
In Texas, this course is approved for one structural pest control and one general agricultural CEU credit. You must score a minimum of 70% on the post-test to receive credit.
Trainings may be enrolled in once every 3 years for renewing CEU credits.
