Thanks to a USDA NIFA Beginning Farmer Rancher Development Program grant the BattleGround to Breaking Ground Program (BGBG) was developed to increase the number of farmers and ranchers & enhance their sustainability. To date, BCBG has provided education to over 1000 veterans and other beginning farmer ranchers since 2016 and 572 participants started, improved, or expanded their farms/ranches.
The program is a 4-phase educational program available to veterans, active-duty military, their families, and other beginning farmers and ranchers. The program utilizes a mix of online courses and hands-on training to provide education in agriculture business planning, business management, agriculture business funding, resources in agriculture, agriculture marketing, and agriculture production.
