Overview
Caffeine is a substance that is often consumed by humans to increase alertness and reduce fatigue. It is also used as a therapeutic treatment for premature infants to improve heart, lung, and brain function. Caffeine is also given to cattle and is used as an effective method to evaluate the liver function of cows and calves. This article will review the effects of caffeine on premature infants and its potential use as a therapeutic treatment to improve the performance of dairy calves born from difficult calving.
