Overview

Do you want to continue your professional career in wastewater management? This online wastewater course is the second in a series developed to address challenges facing the onsite wastewater industry in Texas.

Course Information

This online course gives you the knowledge to enhance your career while earning CEUs through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. After completing this course, you will have a strong knowledge of Hydraulic Loading and Time Dosing.

This course series is developed to address one of the challenges facing the onsite wastewater industry in Texas: wastewater treatment systems that are being organically and/or hydraulically overloaded. The entire 16-hour course series is divided into four modules, each module covering unique topics. Upon completion of all four modules, you will be able to better understand the complexity of designing and operating a high-strength onsite wastewater treatment system.

Who is this for?

  • Professional License Holders (Professionals)

What will you learn?

  • Better understanding of hydraulic loading and the difference between average and peak flow
  • Estimate flow based on type of facility and from current regulations
  • Calculate actual flows using different methods and calculations
  • Understand the importance, benefits, and need for flow equalization
  • Manage flows in commercial facilities using the concept of time-dosing

NOTE: This course is one of a four-part series. Don't miss the companion courses:

You can purchase all four courses at a discount in the bundle, Analyzing Wastewater Systems for High Strength and Hydraulic Loading - Bundle.

Course Outline

Lesson 1: Two Qs in Wastewater Management

Learn why all waste streams have two design values, hydraulic loading for quantity and organic loading for quality.

Lesson 2: Estimating Flows

Learn how to estimate residential and commercial water flows.

Lesson 3: Measuring Flows

Discover the different methods, tools, and calculations for measuring flow. Learn the difference between actual hydraulic loading and hydraulic and organic loading and how to troubleshoot.

Lessons 4 & 5: Flow Equalization and Management by Time Dosing

Learn about the impact of flow management on system components and how to evaluate flow for design.
