Course Information

This self-paced, online course is based on the popular publication called Center Pivot Irrigation - the essential guide to the selection, optimization, and management of center pivots. The course has 10 modules covering the following topics:

  • Design choices
  • Understanding the pivot printout
  • System capacity and mainline sizing
  • Pressure regulators
  • Water applicators (including close drop spacing)
  • Flow meters, pressure gauges, outlet spacing, and end guns
  • Variable-rate irrigation, control panels, and communication technology
  • Pivot management: runoff and wheel rutting
  • Irrigation scheduling
  • Chemigation

A Center Pivot Buyer's Checklist is included. Students who successfully complete the course by answering the questions in each module will receive a certificate of completion and 6 hours of continuing education credit awarded by the Texas A&M School of Irrigation, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
