Course Information
This course consists of seven modules that educate farmers, crop consultants, water district personnel, dealers, and agency personnel on how to measure on-farm water usage using different metering techniques and how to select and to properly install flow meters. Videos are included which detail the installation process for propeller flow meters in metal and PVC pipelines.
Course Objectives
Once you finish this course, you will be able to:
- Be aware of issues and regulations regarding metering in Texas.
- Understand the terminology used in water measurement and metering.
- Have a broad understanding of pipeline hydraulics as it relates to pressure, velocity, and flow.
- Be able to Identify the most common metering technologies used in on-farm applications.
- Understand how metering devices operate, their advantages and disadvantages, and expected accuracy.
- Be able to estimate water use and flow with indirect methods (i.e., methods not requiring the use of a meter)
- Understand installation requirements and procedures for different types of meters.
- Be able to distinguish between the two methods used for reporting flow measurement accuracy.
- Know the correct steps and procedures for installing a propellor-type flow meter in meter and PVC pipelines.

An aerobic septic system, or aerobic treatment unit (ATU), uses oxygen to breakdown both dissolved and solid constituents into gases, cell mass, and non-degradable material contained in wastewater. This online course will teach you how to properly maintain and operate your ATU. You will have 30 days from the day you register to complete this program. If you do not complete the program within this limit, your registration will expire, and you will need to pay the registration fees again to start over.
