This course will inform participants about riparian and watershed processes, the benefits that healthy riparian areas provide, and the tools that prevent and/or resolve degradation and improve water quality.

What You'll LearnThis online course will inform participants about riparian and watershed processes, the benefits that healthy riparian areas provide, and the tools that prevent and/or resolve degradation and improve water quality. Participants will be educated on the importance of riparian protection activities. At the conclusion of the training, participants will receive a certificate of completion. Course Information A major goal of the course will be to foster implementation of riparian Best Management Practices (BMPs). We emphasize the need for watershed planning to support maintenance of a natural hydrograph. Restoration of riparian areas degraded by changes to the natural hydrologic regime must be conducted in concert with efforts to remedy those upstream disturbances. Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:Describe watersheds and how their components impact water qualityExplain how creeks functionIdentify the common riparian plants in your regionDecipher between the stabilization ratings of common riparian plantsRecognize the role of forests and trees in protecting watersheds from erosion and nutrientsManage wild pig populations that put creeks and watersheds at riskCEU CreditsThis course has numerous continuing education credits available.
