Overview

The BattleGround to Breaking Ground Program (BGBG) consists of several Program Tracks developed for active-duty military, military veterans, their families, and the general public who are new / beginning farmers and ranchers to assist them in starting or enhancing a production agriculture business. The program offers online business planning courses, hands-on training and mentoring, and online agriculture production courses for the Skills Training Program, Traditional Program, and Condensed Programs. It also offers Tracks that offer introduction to agriculture type workshops through the Introduction to Agriculture Business online course and the in-person Boot Camp.

Our goal is to help more people start farming and ranching in the U.S. We want to make sure their businesses can last a long time. We do this by offering a complete program that includes:

This way, we can make it easier for veterans and others, especially those with disabilities, to start and stay in farming.

  • Describe business goals and create a plan to meet those goals
  • Develop a business description, operations plan, marketing plan, and financial plan

  • Understand, create and analyze financial statements including budgets, production records, income statements, cash flow, and balance sheets

    This course is for district and county clerks in Texas and meets requirements for clerks needing 1 hour of continuing education on fraudulent court documents and fraudulent document filings. Participants will review codes and definitions of fraud and understand the role of the clerk regarding fraudulent documents.
