We address water quality issues through a statewide network of professional educators, research partners and community collaborators. Through a variety of resources and programs related to water quality, we equip all Texans with the information they need to measure and protect the quality of their water.

Programs

We offer numerous free and affordable programs on agriculture and natural resources, family and community health, economic health and youth development. We also offer many volunteer opportunities. Browse the list below.
Program

The Healthy Lawns Healthy Waters program aims to improve and protect surface water quality by enhancing awareness and knowledge of best management practices for residential landscapes.

Program

The Texas Watershed Steward (TWS) program is a statewide educational program designed to improve the quality of Texas’ water resources. The program educates and informs locals about their watershed, its potential problems, and steps people can take to improve and protect surface water quality in their area.

The Lone Star Healthy Streams program aims to protect Texas waterways from bacterial contamination from livestock operations and feral hogs that may pose a serious health risk to Texas citizens.

Texas Watershed Steward

All watersheds in Texas are threatened by nonpoint sources (NPS) of pollution which are detrimental to the valuable water resources of the state. To help combat this threat, federal and state water resource management agencies have adopted a watershed-scale approach for managing water quality.

  • Project

    The 4-H Water Conservation & Education project explores the wonder of water and its value to humans, wildlife, and the environment. Resources and activities are designed for youth of all ages, as well as environmental and science educators looking for hands-on experiences and in-depth study on a wide range of water topics.

    RWQ-REEU program provides students with hands-on learning experiences in water quality, exposure to careers in agricultural research and extension, and a pathway to graduate school.

    Texas Water Resources Institute provides science-based, community-supported solutions for the state’s pressing water quantity and quality challenges through internal expertise and external collaborations.
