Learning environments and intentional teaching are key aspects to any successful early childhood program. Home-based child care has unique settings and specific requirements to ensure the daily activities are conducive to positive learning outcomes for children in your care.

This 2-hour course is for prospective home-based child care business owners and will introduce high-quality learning environments, intentional teaching, and multi-age activity planning in a home-based child care setting.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Apply principles of child development to assess children's current abilities and select appropriate learning goals
  • Design safe, engaging learning environments both indoors and outdoors
  • Implement schedules, routines, and activities that promote children's learning
  • Interact with children in a positive, supportive manner.

The development of this online course was 100% funded by federal Child Care and Development Funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, as part of an $8,000,000 grant from the Texas Workforce Commission.
