Overview
Organic agriculture offers producers the potential to access alternative markets and price premiums for their products, while using beneficial conservation management practices. However, adding organic to a production portfolio requires several factors, which may be a roadblock. This research team conducted field research near Vernon, Texas, from 2018 to 2021 to evaluate the 3-year organic transition period in dual-purpose wheat systems. This publication provides background information on organic agriculture, a description of the research project, project outcomes, experiences managing the organic system, as well as links to additional resources.
