Course Information
Observation is the primary assessment tool of the early childhood professional and can empower your teaching at a classroom level and at an individual child level. Discover ways to increase how you can use your observations to increase learning for your children. This course may be included in the training hours needed for the CDA credential.
In this four-hour course, you will learn the role of observation and documentation in the teaching and learning cycle, ways to document observations, and the importance of accurate documentation to fully support very young children's learning.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain the role of observation in the Cycle of Curriculum Planning;
- Identify several types of information that can be obtained through purposeful observation in the early childhood classroom; and
- Describe when and how to use observation to gather each type of information.
The development of this online course was 100% funded by federal Child Care and Development Funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, as part of an $8,000,000 grant from the Texas Workforce Commission.
