Promoting Early Education Quality (PEEQ) is dedicated to encouraging the adoption of research- and evidence-based practices at all levels of the early education field.

Courses

Course

In this course, behaviors supporting a healthful weight in children will be discussed in context of their supporting research and recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Sample preschool eating patterns recommended by the USDA MyPlate will also be discussed.

Course

This course discusses the steps of policy development, implementation, and evaluation. As a result, child care providers will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop physical activity policies that promote and support active lifestyles in early child care settings.

Maintaining the health of young children – and setting them up with lifelong healthy habits – are critical elements of a quality early childhood program. This course will review some of the key practices early childhood educators can use to implement farm-to-table strategies in early care and education settings. It is aligned with the guidelines of the Texas Healthy Building Blocks recognition program.
