Course Information

Bed bugs began making a comeback as a common household pest in the early 2000s. Research suggests that this new version is more resistant to insecticides and requires special expertise to manage. This online course will teach you how to check for bed bugs, what they look like, how to get rid of bed bugs, and modern treatment options.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • List three reasons why bed bugs are making a comeback
  • Recognize common signs of bed bugs
  • List health impacts of bed bugs
  • Explain life stage intervals including lifespan without a host
  • Recognize bed bugs and their signs
  • Explain the importance of proactive detection to an apartment manager
  • Explain the role of encasements in bed bug management
  • Use of pitfall traps in bed bug management
  • List five options for treating customers' bagged belongings
  • Identify lethal temperatures for bed bugs
  • Categorize insecticides labeled for bed bug control by their modes of action

Certification Requirements

This course offers 1 CEU of pest control credit from TDA. You must score a minimum of 70% on the post-test to earn the certificate and CEU credit.

Trainings may be enrolled in once every 3 years for renewing CEU credits.
