Overview

Step Up Scale Down is a 12-week wellness program based on USDA guidelines and scientific research. Each week focuses on a different topic related to nutrition, healthy eating, exercise, and more to support you in your weight loss journey.

Course Information

Enrollment

  • Enrollment begins January 08, 2024.
  • Enrollment closes January 30, 2024.

Getting started

  • After you complete the registration process, you will receive an email with a link to your course where you can access the course introduction.
  • Course begins on January 22, 2024.
  • Participants will have access to the course until two weeks after the course end date.

Pacing

  • Option A - New Lesson Weekly - This traditional delivery method will have a new lesson open every Monday during the course, with reminders and prompts to login to complete the course materials and participate in discussion boards and weekly challenges.
  • Option B - Self-Paced with All Lessons - This delivery method will allow you to see and access all the course materials and lessons at once. You will still be encouraged to work through the lessons weekly and participate each week, but you will have flexibility to move forward if needed. You will still receive course reminders and prompts with the weekly releases.

Step Up Scale Down is a 12-week online weight loss and wellness program. It promotes healthy weight loss and lifestyle habits based on USDA guidelines and scientific research to promote health and reduce your risk for chronic disease.

Each week focuses on a different topic related to nutrition, healthy eating, exercise, and more to support you in your weight loss journey.

  • Setting realistic and healthy goals
  • How to calculate calorie needs for weight loss to reach a healthy weight
  • Why fad diets are not recommended
  • Portion sizes for adults
  • How to read nutrition labels and identify food claims
  • Meal planning for weight loss and weight management
  • Motivation to workout and exercise
  • Signs and symptoms of dehydration
  • Healthy snacks for weight loss
  • Fruits and vegetables to consume for a healthy diet
  • How to eat healthy while socializing at work, restaurants and parties
  • What are normal blood pressure and cholesterol levels
  • Rewards for weight loss milestones and success
