A disease called basil downy mildew has spread and become a major concern across the US. Basil downy mildew is a severe disease caused by Peronospora belbahrii that can kill an entire crop. The earliest report of basil downy mildew in Texas was in 2010. Many herb growers are still unaware of the existence of this disease and, therefore, not taking preventative measures to protect their plants. (3 Pages)
