Overview

This online course will equip corn growers and pesticide applicators with knowledge of insect pest identification, thresholds, treatment, and prevention in Texas corn.

Course Information

This online course teaches corn growers and pesticide applicators to identify, treat, and prevent insect pests in Texas corn. The effect of transgenic, or biotech, corn varieties on the requirement for IPM practices is covered in lectures.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Scout for pests during their active seasons;
  • Explain the impact of biotechnology on pest risks;
  • Describe the risks based on regions throughout Texas; and
  • Implement control measures for corn rootworms, wireworms, corn earworms, cutworms, fall armyworms, southwestern corn borers, spider mites, and post-tassle pests.
