With over one million new cases diagnosed each year, skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. Studies have shown that 80 percent of lifetime sun exposure can occur before the age of 18, childhood is a crucial period for awareness and prevention.

A large proportion of lifetime exposure occurs in childhood therefore, targeting childcare settings can be an effective way to reduce ultraviolet (UV) exposure. It is important to protect young children from UV exposure as well as educate children with lifelong sun safety behaviors in order to reduce the risks of skin cancer.

This 1-hour online course is designed to help you gain a better understanding of how to Grow Sun Smart, by minimizing sun exposure and reducing the risk of skin cancer at child care centers.
