In Texas, poor nutrition in adults and children and high obesity rates leading to chronic disease are public health concerns for Texas A&M AgriLife. The Dinner Tonight program aims to provide healthy recipes for Texans and increase self-efficacy in meal planning, healthy cooking techniques, and food safety.

The program consists of in-person and virtual cooking school demonstrations and a web-based continuing education resource in the form of a website, social media, and direct to audience newsletters. The goal is to provide Texans with a reliable "go-to" resource for healthy recipes, nutrition information, healthy cooking techniques, food safety information, and more. In-person and virtual Healthy Cooking Schools contribute to establishing the Dinner Tonight program and Texas A&M AgriLife Agents as a reliable resource for Texans.
