Overview
Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) is an economically damaging viral pathogen of tomatoes and peppers and is a new global threat to the tomato and pepper industry. Over the years, scientists have developed improved varieties of tomatoes and peppers with genetic resistance (e.g., Tm-22) to tobamoviruses. ToBRFV does not pose a health risk to people or animals, symptomatic tomato and pepper fruits are rendered unmarketable, resulting in severe economic losses. (5 pages)
