Anthrax is a bacteria (Bacillus anthracis) that causes disease in cattle, sheep, goats, horses, exotics, swine, dogs, and cats. Domesticated and wild herbivores such as cattle, sheep, goats, and deer have a higher risk of contracting the disease and dying. However, anthrax also affects humans. This publication discusses the causes and symptoms of anthrax infection in livestock, as well as precautions to help prevent transmission to humans. (2 pages)
