Course Information

This course is a part of the larger Owning Your Piece of Texas course. It describes the mechanics of the Texas Right to Farm statute. This statute is designed to provide a defense to agricultural operations that are facing trespass or nuisance suits by neighbors unhappy with the agricultural operation's activities. This is a particularly critical issue for rural landowners near more urban areas.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the purpose of Right to Farm laws
  • Define a nuisance claim
  • Identify the required elements for a Right to Farm defense
  • Acknowledge limitations to the Right to Farm statutory protections
  • Recognize how the Right to Farm statute may affect the applicability of governmental requirements to an agricultural operation
  • Explain how the Right to Farm statute applies to the building of agricultural improvements

*You will have access to this course for 1 year before your account is unenrolled. If you enroll in the full course, you will have access to all 10 modules for 2 years.*
