Providing the highest quality services to children and families requires educators to meet professional and ethical standards of conduct.

This course describes the characteristics of a professional in the early care and education field and examines the difference between ethical guidelines and personal values.

The benefits of teachers using reflection practices for professional growth are defined and their professional role as a collaborative partner and an advocate for early care and education is also discussed.

Funding for this 4-hour pre-service training course was provided by the Workforce Solutions as part of their Early Care and Education Quality Improvement initiative.

    Many parents work nontraditional hours, meaning their children need access to early care and education programs outside typical operating hours. In the absence of qualified early care and education programs that offer nighttime care, these families may have to make challenging and precarious choices, choosing between maintaining their employment and leaving their children without the appropriate care.

    The purpose of this 2-hour course is to support early childhood program owners and directors through the process of incorporating extended hours of care, including overnight care, to support the needs of many families across Texas.
