Overview
Course Information Early child care professionals need to understand the importance of early language experiences and learn ways to promote infant and toddler language development. Beginning with key components necessary for all high quality infant and toddler programs, various language activities done within classroom routines are investigated. Effective book reading strategies, as well as music and movement activities for infants and toddlers are provided. Funding for this 2-hour training was provided by H-E-B.

Key findings from brain research and its relevance to the care of young children is briefly explored, as well as the principles of Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP).

These core skills are critical in children’s cognitive development. Strategies for effective verbal interactions, encouraging problem-solving, and integrating the creative arts are explored.

Students will learn about the strengths and weaknesses of various disciplinary styles and explore strategies for setting and enforcing healthy limits.
