The purpose of this 2-hour course is to provide early childhood educators with information and resources to recognize stressors and signs of stress and empower them to adopt healthy approaches to stress management.

Indoors or outdoors, a strategic approach to observation and assessment gives early childhood educators the information they need to effectively plan for children’s needs, interests, and abilities.

The purpose of this 2-hour course is to offer tips for incorporating systematic observation into outdoor and nature play activities, including what to look for and how to document what you see.

    Ethics, values, and vision are the foundation of who we are. As early childhood professionals, we must understand and evaluate our values and their impact on our decision-making process. Being mindful of how our beliefs and biases impact our approach to teaching and building relationships is how we successfully build relationships with children, families, and colleagues.

    After completing this 4-hour course, the learner will be able to describe what ethics and values are, explain how these affect the early childhood profession, create a teaching philosophy that portrays your vision and teaching practices based upon these beliefs, and explain personal bias and its impact on the learning environment and teaching.

    Science and young children are a great fit! How many times does a young child ask, “Why?” This natural curiosity is the precursor to all different types of inquiry and exploration. Everything is new and fascinating for young children. Building on that is such fun, for you and the children! This course may be included in the training hours needed for the CDA credential.

    After completing this 4-hour course, the learner will be able to describe how science supports development in the area of cognition, define and give activity examples for the categories of science and describe how technology can be used in a developmentally appropriate way in prekindergarten.

In Defining the Importance of Families, you will take an in-depth look at the meaning of family to a child and how collaboration strengthens your work as an educator.

    In this 4-hour course, we will describe the various types of family structures, discuss strategies to use for effective communication with families, and look at ways to create opportunities for collaboration.
