Welcome to Grayson County

This is the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service website for Grayson County, Texas.   We are located North of Dallas on the Oklahoma border.   Grayson County has a population of approximately 150,532 persons.  Sherman is the county seat, and Sherman and Denison are the two largest cities, both of which are located just off Highway 75.   There are 13 independent school districts and several private and charter schools.

The Grayson County border is marked by the Red River and beautiful Lake Texoma, separating us from the Oklahoma border.

Grayson County is bordered by Collin and Denton County to the South, Cooke County to the West, and Fannin County to the East.  Major highways include Highway 75, Highway 289, and Highway 377, running north-south.  Highway 82 and Highway 56 run east-west.

The Grayson County AgriLife Office is located in the Courthouse on the square in downtown Sherman.  Enter the Courthouse from the south side (Lamar Street), and we are the first office on the right on the ground floor.

Grayson County 4-H has community clubs in Sherman, Tioga, Van Alstyne, and Whitesboro. There are additional 4-H project clubs across the county, such as Archery, Hunting, Livestock, Poultry, Rabbit, and Shotgun. School-based clubs are active at Quest Academy in Whitewright, Texoma Christian School, and Dillingham and Fairview in Sherman ISD.

We also have very active groups of Master Gardener Volunteers, Master Naturalist Volunteers, and a growing group of Master Wellness Volunteers.  Contact us if you would like to be certified as a Master Volunteer in one of those programs.
