Welcome to Parker County Extension
Welcome to the Parker County office of Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service. Parker County, in north central Texas, is bound on the north by Jack and Wise County, on the east by Tarrant County, on the South by Hood and Johnson County, and on the west by Palo Pinto County. The county was named for Isaac Parker. It covers 902 square miles of diverse land; elevations range from 700 to 1,200 feet above sea level. The county’s gently rolling plains, situated mostly in the West Cross Timbers vegetation region, are covered by tall grasses, mesquite and oak. Elm, walnut and pecan trees are common along streams and valleys. Temperatures range from an average high of 96 degrees in July to an average low of 34 degrees in January, and rainfall averages slightly more than 32 inches annually.
Mission: To serve Texans through community-based education to the people. Extension brings the resources of the Texas A&M University System to Parker County. Through field-based faculty, Extension provides unbiased, research-based information, educational programs and technical assistance in areas such as agriculture, youth development and nutrition, diet and health.
