4-H REGISTRATION

4-H Pledge

To make the best better, I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service, and my health to better living for my club, my community, my country and my world.

 

2025-2026 4-H Enrollment begins:

  • August 15th for 4th-12th grades
  • September 1st for 3rd grade – Please Note: If you register prior to September 1st, child will be considered a clover kid for the year.

If your child will be showing an animal for the first time, child must complete Quality Counts. Call the office at 830.672.8531 and ask for Dwight Sexton, the AG/NR Agent, if you have questions.

If your child has moved up a category, they must also complete the Quality Counts course. Categories are as follows:

  • Junior: Grades 3, 4, and 5
  • Intermediate: Grades 6, 7, and 8
  • Seniors: Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12

 Listed below are all the awards that are available for members through the Gonzales County 4-H.

Applications are due by June 18, 2025, by 5 pm.  Dates updated based on the 4-H year.

Scholarship Application Information

  • GOLD STAR:

    This is the highest award a member can obtain. The winner will be selected from the following items:

    • A completed record book submitted by June 18th
    • An application form due by June 18th
    • An interview

    To be considered you must apply.

    Gold Star-The member must be at least 15 at the time of application and must have completed at least 3 years in 4-H, including the current year. To be considered you must apply.

  • JR. MISS AND MR:

    This is the highest county awards for 12- & 13-year-old. The winner will be selected from the following items:

    • A completed record book submitted June 18th
    • An application due by June 18th
    • An interview

    I Dare You Award:

    William H. Danforth’s book, I Dare You, was first published in 1931. It is still considered one of the most influential books in the area of personal motivation. The book is published and distributed by the American Youth Foundation through its I Dare You committee. The I Dare You Leadership Award is not a contest or competition. High school principals and county agents are asked to select (or have a staff or committee select) nominees. The award recognizes excellence in character, well-balanced personal development, and potential for leadership. (Ages 14-18)
